The Shikongren Method: Cases, Volume Three
Translator's note. The shortest case in the volume, and the one that states the method's boundary condition: only a movement or environmental change that happens while you are watching, or one that first catches your attention, carries predictive force. The rest of the method is a table of correspondences — a bee is money and feeling — applied to the geometry of the event.
A student asked: a bee circled the person being observed and then flew off in the X direction. How does the Shikongren method read that?
Teacher Lü's analysis:
- A bee stands for money and for feeling.
- A bee circling him means entanglement in feeling or in money and property.
- The bee flying off in the X direction means that recently, and at the point marked X, he will suffer a loss in feeling and a drain of money.
The student's feedback on the spot: in the year X he divorced, lost money, was hurt emotionally, and the paperwork of the divorce was troublesome in every way.
Teacher Lü's caution:
The movement or environmental change must occur while you are observing the person for it to have predictive meaning. Or, if you were not observing him, his movement must first have caught your attention — and from the moment it caught your attention and you began to observe him, that movement carries predictive meaning too.
