What "Injury, Illness and Disaster" Actually Means

Translator's note. A short piece that exists to prevent one specific argument. A client is told there is injury, illness or disaster in a period; the period passes; nothing visible happens; the client says the reading was wrong. The author's answer is a definition: the category covers psychological injury as much as physical, covers a scar and a remembered grief, and covers a chronic illness getting worse rather than merely existing. There is also a practical note on bloodshed and blood donation, and a warning about the readers who open every consultation with a death portent.

In fate calculation, injury, illness and disaster means harm to the body and harm to the mind. A chronic illness that suddenly worsens also carries the information of injury, illness and disaster.

Yet in the minds of many masters, and of ordinary people, only physical injury counts as injury, illness and disaster. The information in a chart genuinely includes psychological wounds. Being exposed in the media, and the blow that deals to a person's mind, is injury, illness and disaster. The clearest case of all is mental illness, which is exactly this category. If a child develops cancer, the psychological blow the parents suffer registers in the parents' charts as injury, illness and disaster.

Any scar left on the body, whatever its size, is information of this kind. Any grief that is still remembered is information of this kind. An ordinary cold is not. A cold that recurs and will not clear, or a cold that brings on other illness, is. A long-standing chronic illness that suddenly relapses or worsens is information of this kind — if a man has chronic bronchitis but it did not flare up in the previous period, then in that previous period there was, by definition, no such information in his chart; and if it flares up in the next period, then the next period holds it.

Here is the trouble. From a chart we can only determine that the information is present; we have no way to measure how much. So a reading is frequently correct and the client still says it is wrong. The reason is always the same: before giving the result, nobody explained what the category actually covers.

The essence of a “bloodshed disaster” is loss of blood. Giving blood is the best way to defuse it. Donating blood also defuses other unfavourable information — loss of money, being targeted by petty people, lawsuits and disputes — because the direction in which an energy expresses itself can be turned. Modern medicine has established that donating blood does the body no harm.

Some people, in order to extract money, tell everyone who sits down that they face a “matter of life and death, a pass they must cross.” The only purpose is to send the client looking for a remedy, and paying for it.
